Back in Victoria

We are back. Thus avoiding the heat wave over New Years. Another one is on the way though. Grr.

Christmas was wonderful. Had Christmas day with Mum.

Champers!

My sister and I enjoying Champagne!

Dooley and I (Dooley stood here even though he hates his picture taken!)

On Boxing Day we raced around Hobart meeting up with Peter, whom is off on a 13 day trip to Japan. I am jealous!! Saw Melinda and Warren for coffee. We also caught up with Rachel for a few wonderful hours. It had been about two year since i saw her. The reason I know this is because she had never meet Dooley and our two year anniversary is coming up. We talked school, uni, gossiped and had a wonderful time!!!!

The day after boxing day, we drove up to Dooleys mum shack at Clarence point and spen two glorouis days reading, drinking wine and taking in the calm view of the sea from the verander!!

We had a belated Christmas lunch with Dooleys day a few days later.. Hmm I love having that..  Crayfish, atlantic salmon steaks, smoked salmon, sashimi, 300 bottle of champers,  a celebratory $850 bottle of red to celebrate John and Sare’s engagement. Apparently we are next on the cards.. If I am lucky!!

What else?

We caught up with Haley ( she got a lift with us to Launceston) and got all the gossip there. She is moving to Adelaide, so hopefully and drive there would be on the cards!!

Had lunch with the Havas in Launnie, at the Metzz.. If you ever go there ge the pizzas.. so nice!

Saw Matt and Jacci lots. Had a nice lunch with them and spend basically the next day and half at their new house!!! It’s a nice house. Had new years there.. Didn’t drink too much. Gasp! Shock horror! Play Shrek operation and the card game cheat!! Fun times!!!!

Dooley and Matt then proceeded to play the XBox and chat til 6am in the morning!!

Spent out last day in Tassie thanking Christ that we weren’t in Melbourne in 41 degree heat wave over new years..

Came back to a house still in tact. Yay.

So now I have a few more weeks, then I start my new school! I am excited, however right now am a bit hot!

One door closes..

This arrived in my inbox today. My note from the universe. I really think it is quite suited at this time..

*****

It’s not just that when one door closes, another door opens.

When one door closes, Josie, choirs burst into chorus, orchestras orchestrate, bugles bugle, marching bands march, dogs catch Frisbees, cats ‘chow, chow, chow,’ pigs fly, and 10,000 new doors open.

Kind of makes you want a door to close, huh?

3:30 am

Last night, the before my last day with my students, I woke up at 3:30am. My heart was going at a hundred miles an hour. I got up, had a drink and went to the toilet. Checking myself in the mirror, I looked normal.  I went back to bed, lying there feeling my heart beating and asking it to clam down. I woke Dooley and asked him why I woke up in the state I did. He told me I had a nightmare and the reason my heart was going so fast was from the adrenaline pumping around my body…. Ok the reassurance from Dooley, ever when he is half asleep, put me at ease.

It took me a while to go back to sleep snuggled in his arms, but eventually I calmed down enough and I drifted off to sleep.

I am still now, stumped as to what my brain was telling me to wake me up like that.

blah blah blah.. Christmas

I am guessing that facebook is taking up more of my time and bandwidth then needed.

Here is a run down:

All 29 reports are printed signed and sent home. Now I wait for the parent calls.

I no longer am employed with St. Brendan’s but now an employed the the Victorian Department of Education. I start next year at a school 2 minutes walk from my house. straight grade 5. Interactive white boards. I am going to have fun next year. Even if it only involves me being silly with the interactive white board.

I am hanging out for my holidays. No more Grade 6’s. No more mass. No more stupid graduation meetings.

We are heading to Tassie for Christmas at great cost to the budget. We will be back on 2nd Jan .Hopefully wtih some good pictures and interesting stories to tell..

Oh. We bough tickets to see Jack Johnson play in Melbourne in March!! HOW COOL!!!

Apart from that I wish our house had air conditioning. It’s so bloody hot here… Grrr

Blame facebook

for my lack of posts.

I have also started my fourth and final term at St Brendans. A bit sad, and like at every school, just as I feel settled in, I have to leave. grr. It makes me angry.

I am still looking for jobs and have applied for a few, so we just have to wait.

Dooley got made redundant about two weeks ago. That was a very stressful two weeks. Not knowing if our money could stretch if we need it too until Dooley found a new job. Luckily, he got offered a new job starting Monday, with a bigger company, which will not go bust, and he got a pay rise. So that worked out well.

I am over my flu, thanks for asking Nigel!!! 🙂 I hope that Uni is going well for you an Megan!!

90% Phantom

So I have been very busy lately. I have been hunting for jobs and I have been interview for a school quite near here. I spent today in the classroom, to give me a better feel. I can tell you now that it will be a challenge as it is 90% multicultural and some ESL students. It is a private school though, so that’s not so bad.

Dooley and I went house hunting, as we need to get some idea of where we want to buy a house next year.. Yes we have decided to buy a house, so saving for a deposit is now underway.

On Saturday we are going to see The Phantom of the Opera!! I can’t wait!!

Nearly third term holidays, so not long now til I can relax..

Graduation!

p1030015.jpg

On the 11th August Dooley graduated in a Bachelor of Business and a Bachelor of Information Systems. Our parents meet for the first time (oooohh!) and we had fish bowls margaritas. Yum. Mango flavour was certainly the best.

Anyway sidetracking here. After four long year Dooley has finally got that piece of paper, worth 40grand!

We were also in Hobart the weekend before where we caught up with Jacci and Matt and Melinda and Warren.  A big and happy Hello to Hails, who is finding herself again after a long time. Smiles all round.

Are you satisfied?

I was reading the newspaper the other day and a study has shown that hairdressers have the most job satisfaction!!

Fair enough. My sister Liz, has been at the same salon for 7 years and loves her job. Adores it. She get to chat all day to her friends. And cut hair.

So it’s not really money, now is it, that makes you happy.

i love this

If you can see it in your mind, Josie, it’s real. And if you can consistently hold onto that image, if only when you visualize each day, the hard part is done. All that remains is merging the two worlds together, the present and the one you’ve imagined, which is my part. And you can best help me align circumstances, coincidences, and chance encounters by getting busy, going out into the world, and moving in the general direction of your dreams, even if only to do what your peers might do, who know not of life’s magic.

But you know the truth, Josie. You know how life works. Do not waiver in your march. No matter how humble your steps, this is how I will reach you. And as you witness one dream come true after another – first the small ones, then the big ones, then the huge ones – you’ll remember why you were first drawn to the jungles of time and space… if you haven’t already figured it out.

Crazy kid,

More from the Universe

When your dreams or “end results” are stated generally, in broad brush strokes, like wealth and abundance, friends and laughter, health and harmony, then please, by all means, Josie, attach yourself to them. Attach, attach, attach. There is no limit to what you can have and no reason to expect anything less. But when your end results are specific, like the ultimate car, a hot date, or a home in the country, do not attach, do not attach, do not attach.

Material details and specifics are always “how” to get to a grander picture of your life and are never important in and of themselves. They’re “cursed hows” disguised as end results. Steps disguised as destinations. By all means, think of them, put them in your scrapbook or on your vision board to remind yourself of the kind of possessions and adventures that are your birthright, but do not give them an importance, through attachment, greater than what you are truly after: a fuller, richer life with all cups running over, the details of which will take care of themselves, when this is your end result.

Ever thought?

Ok so you know when work is getting you down, you are totally stressed and every one work is looking down on you and treating you like a lesser human?  Well maybe not. but right now I am not feeling appreicated in the work I do at all.. People are on my back all the time… I am thinking of a career change into HR/Recruitment…

If you could change career, what would you do? Or would you change at all??

That time of the year again

Grrr I hate this time of the year. Report writing time. I swear I have spent at least 20 hours on mine. This is when I loathe having 29 children in my class. They are due Monday, ready to be printed on collated on Tuesday, normally this would be this Friday, but I  ( and two other poor teachers) have bloody camp from Wednesday til Friday with our lovlies. 😛

Mini Break

The other weekend, we went to Sydney for a weekend. Cause we can (it’s so close) and cause we think we deserved a break away.

So we went to Taronga Zoo, Darling Harbour Aquarium and the The PowerHouse Museum. We stayed in a nice little hotel 400 metres from Kirribilli House. We loved catching the ferries, and Dooley thinks that if we ever move to Sydney, he wants to be able to ferry it to work and live with a nice harbour view. Pfft. He will have to have a Very Good Job to afford that.

But don’t panic folks, we are Not moving anywhere soon.. Nicely settled here.. For now..

Dodgy shot of us

Us at the Aquarium. Quite fitting seeing as though we are both Pisces.

me with the giraffes.

A sleeping wombat. Anyone remember Fatso the Wombat??

It took about 5 hours to see all the animals at the Zoo. We also saw a Bird Show and a Seal Show!!

Standard Sydney shot!! 🙂

Dooleys new favourite form of transport.

From the Universe

Every day I get an email from the “Universe”. They are insightful and interesting. This one today is of particalur interest. We have about 5 weeks left of term..  let’s pretend.

Just put yourself ahead in time, Josie, pretend that it’s next month already, and imagine that the past 4 or so weeks just totally rocked. Every hope you now possess for the coming weeks has manifested. Every challenge was breezed through. Every cool person stayed cool, every trickster became an ally, there were happy surprises along the way, and, you got plenty of sleep.

This is how we do it.
